Six Weeks

Doc let us come in early for our first ultrasound after much begging and pleading. He warned us we probably would not see a heartbeat this early, and therefore he couldn't determine if it was an ongoing pregnancy.

We were prepared for that, so imagine our surprise and joy when he immediately saw a sac, fetal pole and a strong little heartbeat of around 116! Baby was even measuring ahead at 6 weeks, 3 days.

It was so wonderful to see its little heart flickering away. Husband and I both had huge smiles on our faces as we watched it. We even got a little picture of it to take home, although you can't really see much.

I was so glad we pushed for an ultrasound sooner, because it really did me a lot of good. I have been so worried there wouldn't actually be a baby inside me. I have had very few symptoms so far. I really need to work on my faith! We don't have another appointment until next Thursday, and I am hoping Doc will let us come in once more after that as well.

I still can't believe this is happening to me and that I am really pregnant. Each day with this baby is a precious gift and I am so grateful to God for this answered prayer. I know anything can still happen at this point, but I am choosing to trust God that He has it in His hands and put the worry aside and just try to enjoy this pregnancy.

  1. This post makes me so happy. I am thrilled for you. Glad you got to see your little one and that everything looked great :). What a miracle!!

And for the record... My symptoms were incredibly sporadic. Some days I had them and other days... Nothing. It totally flipped me out on days I felt nothing. My RE told me that symptoms totally vary from pregnancy to pregnancy/woman to woman and that they really don't mean anything. If that makes you feel any better...
