First Post

I am writing this blog as a way to chronicle our journey to become parents. I have read many, many similar blogs over the past several months that have greatly encouraged me. I'll admit, many of them also greatly discouraged me, but for the most part it has been a good experience and very uplifting. Eventually my hope is that someone else will stumble across this blog and be encouraged as I have with others. Right now I am not sharing this blog with anyone, so I don't expect to get any readers.

After struggling to conceive for approximately eight months (technically it's been a year, but there were a few months we took off during the summer), I am beginning to think we might have a more serious problem. I was one of those girls you so often read about. Wanted to be a mom since before time began, was planning out my children before I even said "I do." We stopped taking birth control right after we got married, and started officially trying in December 2009. I was hopeful at first it was just going to take some time and nothing was wrong, but by November 2010 I was starting to get worried. My OBGYN has kind of blown it off by telling me I'm young (not that young at 27), and to be patient. He did run a number of tests on me and my husband and everything came back "normal."

For now, we are going to continue trying naturally for the next few months. I am following the Making Babies Program, which I highly recommend you look into if you haven't. I am following an organic diet of whole grains, fruits, veggies and the like. I have also been exercising 4-5 times a week. Go me! It has really helped with getting my energy up. I am also taking a whole slew of supplements recommended for my type in the book. We have decided to try it for the 3-month period that is suggested in the book. After that, we will move on to seeking out a fertility specialist. Go team~!

  2. Glad you decided to join the blogging world...there is a great community here, which you will soon figure out. So much support! I truly hope you get all your heart desires in the next few months and that you don't have to seek a specialist. I'll be keeping up with your journey (which I hope will be short!!!) Thanks for stopping by!
